Selection criteria
Applicants are selected for admission into the graduate entry medical and dental programs on the basis of three criteria:

• GAMSAT score
• Bachelor degree
• Interview

The universities may differ in their weighting of performance on each of the criteria.

Exception: The University of Queensland do not interview applicants.

There is no interview for the Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne.

Admission for the University of Melbourne is also based on satisfactory completion of approved science subjects.

For selection into the Doctor of Optometry at the University of Melbourne please refer to the website

Selection into the Master of Pharmacy program is based on four criteria: Bachelor degree, GAMSAT score, seven essential prerequisites (completed less than five years previously) and a satisfactory score in the Pharmacy Case Study Scenario.

More specific information can be obtained by checking the schools' website and by referring to the Admission Guide.

Preferences
Domestic applicants may nominate up to three preferences out of the twelve medical schools. There are differences in entry requirements between the schools. Applicants are strongly advised to obtain detailed information from each of the schools to ensure they are fully informed on both selection criteria and the structure of the individual programs.

The school of your first preference will be provided with your application data.  Should you be selected by your first preference to be kept for the interview pool, then your application will not be passed on to your second preference.

If you are not selected by the first preference school, then your application will be passed on to your second preference for consideration.  If you are not selected by the second preference school, then your application will be passed on to your third preference for consideration.

If after interview you are not made an offer of a place, your application will then be passed on to the next preference school for consideration.
